Office of Recovery and Support

A Day of Remembrance

detail from candlelight vigil on April 16, 2008On April 16, 2008, the Virginia Tech community reflected on the vibrant lives of the 32 students and faculty who were tragically taken from us a year ago. Through light, art, and music we paid tribute to each and every person we lost.

About the Office

The Office of Recovery and Support will coordinate the activities of various university functions that have responsibility for some aspect of the post-April 16 event effort.

Jay Poole has been appointed director of the newly created office, reporting to President Charles Steger. Poole, a 1978 Virginia Tech graduate and former rector of the board of visitors at Radford University, will assemble and direct a cross-functional team which will include representatives from Student Affairs, the Provost's Office, University Relations, and the President's office.
